Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday extended his party’s support to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for creation of South Punjab Province.
Talking to the media after paying his respects at Darbar Fareed , former prime minister and PPP’s senior leader Yousuf Raza Gilani said, “The PPP will support PTI for transforming South Punjab region into a province.”
He added, “We will support every move for creating South Punjab province, which is an old demand of the people living in the area.”
Gilani urged masses to follow footprints of Sufi saints for peace and harmony in the country.
On December 4, Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed authorities concerned to set up South Punjab secretariat by mid-2019.
He also discussed administrative matters regarding creation of new province during a high-level meeting.
The district government, on November 24, had proposed two sites for the south Punjab secretariat.
