GUJRANWALA: Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said Tuesday that there was no load shedding now as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has made Pakistan load-shedding free.
Addressing an open kutchery on Tuesday, he said that no party including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would be able to defeat ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and stop party president Nawaz Sharif from becoming prime minister again.
The minister while comparing Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification case with that of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan’s, he said: “Compare the decisions, and the duality of law would be clear.”
Abid Sher Ali went on to say that the PTI chairman should now stage sit-in outside the house of party leader Jahangir Khan Tareen who was disqualified by the Supreme Court.
Patwari arrested: A patwari (revenue officer) was arrested red-handed by anti corruption team while taking bribe from a citizen. Bashir, a resident of Gujranwala, had complained to the Anti-Corruption Department that the revenue official Saifullah was demanding bribe for providing him land record.
A team of anti-corruption department officials in the supervision of regional director Fareed Ahmed raided the office of Patwari Saifullah and caught him red handed while taking Rs8,000 as bribe from the complainant. The officials confiscated the amount and filed a case against Saifullah.
Xmas security: City Police Officer (CPO) Ashfaq Khan said that foolproof security arrangement will be ensured on the eve of Christmas.
In this regard, CPO Ashfaq Khan held a security meeting in his office here on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ahmad Tippu and Peace Committee Divisional Chairman Qari Zahid Selem and other officials.
Addressing the meeting, CPO said that stringent security would be provided to the churches where gatherings would be made on the occasion. He said that armed police personnel would stand alert on rooftops of the buildings adjacent to the churches.
He noted that police would have constant patrolling around the churches and special search would also be carried out around the churches.
Speaking on the occasion, representative of the Christian community showed his complete satisfaction over the arrangements made by the administration and police and also said Christian community will also cooperate with the district administration.
Later CPO and DC visited the St. Paul’s Church, Presbyterian Church St. Joseph Church, and other churches and reviewed the security arrangements.
